It's been a while
It's been a bit bust lately so I have not had time to keep up with my weekly updates. With Leah in the house we are adjusting to having a needy new born and a needy two year old. Colin has already asked we put Leah back in Erin's belly. Colin has also figured out our names are not Mommy and Daddy. He does refer to us as Brian and Erin but only on occasion and often in jest. Still, having a new born and a two year old is challenging. I don't feel I have spent nearly as much time with Leah as I did with Colin when he was a new born. I find I end up coming home and appeasing Colin while Erin meets Leah's needs or prepares dinner. It doesn't help that I'm as busy as I am at work. This is my first week on call plus I had a deployment to production on Monday night. The project I was about to start before I took a week off was left hanging till I returned. Lucky we got a two week extension and I should have the 14 audit screens ready for QA by the 12th. The screens are simple pop-ups with basic search functionality. I figure I can get one a day completed and I do have an additional developer helping on the project.
I may be dam busy but I will always have time for games. I currently have a 50+ day streak going on my 360 and I don't want to break the streak. I always play after Colin goes to bed so it's not tough to get some gaming done late at night. I've also got used to holding a baby and a controller when Colin was born. He was born a few weeks after Halo 2 came out so I'm practically a pro at gaming while holding a baby. It's actually quit easy with the 360 controller. If I was playing a Wii game I'd probably be screwed. Leah can sleep in my arms and I can clean the streets of Pacific City. I'm also more than willing to quit a game to tend to a crying child. I don't believe in letting your kids cry it out. You kids need to feel secure and how can they do that if you ignore them when they need you?
I hope next week things will settle down a bit and I can get a few more posts up on the blog. Last month the Wii beat the 360 and the PS3 in sales but I'm not too surprised. The Wii should sell well into late Spring since supply is still not meeting demand. I'm still pleased to see the 360 beat the PS3 yet again. You can't say this is a lack of available units issue since there are plenty PS3 in stores. Microsoft's xbox brand has had their best December and January sales ever in North America. The 360 is moving more units than the original xbox and it's big guns (Halo and Fable) from last generation have yet to come out yet. Still the Wii is selling a lot of units and could possibly surpass the 360 in sales world wide by end of this year. Plus Sony has some crazy big announcement coming next week at GDC (Game developers Conference). Expect to hear full retail games being download able over at the PSN Store. But be prepared to see Halo 3 beta start during GDC as MS plans to trump and Sony announcement. Also we should hear about the new 360 SKU and any possible price drop.
