Case of the Mondays
It's been a while since I've just done an update. I've had a lot going on at work and at home over the past couple weeks. I've been evaluating two rules engines at work from Haley and Yasu. Both systems integrate with JSR-94 but both have their own GIU based application to create rules and map rules to java objects. In the beginning the arch on the project really liked Haley because of it's real world sentence conversion to rules. Now he is leaning to Yasu because of their more complex rule combinations. Both tools are very similar from a developer perspective. It's not brain surgery to create a new instance of the engine, load the rules, load the objects to evaluate and then evaluate the objects. Loading the objects into the GUI tool is not too difficult either. What I do see as a problem is having business users coming into the system and mapping the rules to the java objects. We are going down this path because we want the business users to create and change the rules.
I watched a couple movies this week. I finally caught The Da Vinci Code this weekend. It was fairly true to the book except for the beginning. It is an interesting story and does expose some of the facts about early Christianity. It was nice to actually see some of the places they talk about in the book.
I also saw X-Men 3 and it was a fun movie to watch. I never really got into the comic but did watch the cartoon as a kid. I've liked the movies and have found them to be fun. I was a little surprised they killed of the professor but there was a little twist at the end of the trailers that makes you wonder if he didn't survive.
I did catch a bit of Office Space yesterday. That movie really captures the culture of corporate America. I think anyone can relate to the main character in that movie. If you haven't seen it you are truly missing out.
I've been playing a lot of GRAW2. I've just completed the campaign on Elevated Risk (highest difficulty) and I still feel the game looks great, plays great but is a bit shallow. There are the same number of missions as the first game but the missions in 2 don't feel as epic as the original. There are some great firefights in 2 and 2 is a faster paced game but the firefights are not as intense and feel a lot easier. GRAW 2 on it's hardest difficulty is not they difficult.
I have been hunting for orbs in Crackdown when I get a chance. I have now found 497 of the 500 agility orbs and really want to find those last three orbs. I think I've found 187 of the 300 hidden orbs. I was never that concerned about finding the hidden orbs but in my search for the agility orbs I've been finding a lot of hidden orbs. I've also worked on getting a few more achievements in the game. I got the car juggler achievement for keeping a car in the air for 10 seconds with explosives. I now need to get the 200ft jump to get another achievement.
My gamer score is now over 18K and I'm thinking I need to hold off on achievement whoring. I'm need to get back to playing some more online and take a break from single player games. I've been having a fun time i the player matches in GRAW 2 and I want to play some more Gears.
