It's obvious that peter Moore reads my blog because Microsoft has announced they are extending the Xbox 360 warranty to three years for the three red lights error. This is great news for those of that have forked over the $139 it cost to get an out of warranty repair. Peter Moore was interviewed by Major Nelson and stated there where several issues that have been killing 360's and the failure rate had become unacceptable. This move will cost Microsoft over one billion dollars in loses.

This is a smart move by Microsoft and very carefully worded. This warranty is only for users that receive the 3 red lights so if you only got one red light or you shipped the 360 back because it was not reading games well tough luck. I only got one red light so I will not be expecting a refund. The checks will come in 10 to 12 weeks so who knows but I don't expect to see one.
