Back home
It's good to be back in my own bed and with a shower that has adequate
water pressure. I've been a little mum on what was up and why I left
but now I'm a little less in shock. I got a call a couple weeks ago
that my father was not feeling well and that he was seeing a doctor.
Turns out after a few tests and a bit of waiting my father has Colon
cancer. I flew out for the surgery and stayed for five days. By the
time I left he was looking a lot better and on the road to recovery.
The surgery got the tumor out and cleaned out all the cancer cells.
Thankfully the cancer didn't spread to the stomach. For a while it was
very touch and go but now it looks a lot better.
My dad moved to Albany, NY about ten years ago for work and now lives outside of Saratoga Springs. The area is very beautiful the people where very nice but man Albany is small. One wrong turn and you're in the sticks and driving past farms. It probably didn't help that I had horrible flights on Northwest to and from Albany. I spent a lot of time on the freeway since my dad lives an hour from the hospital. Their rush hour is like 494 at 9pm at night. Next time I go to Albany I'm probably going to drive so I can see if 3 hours of hell in a plane is better or worse than 18 hours in a minivan with my kids.
I obviously have not been gaming so my 360's bog has kind of gotten funny. Here is my favorite from 7/23: gaming no Today was there. scrambled feel I up all. happening What's me to?!?!
I've been doing a whole lot of reading lately. I've completed Jpod by Douglas Coupland while I was in NY and then started reading the new Harry Potter book. Jpod is an interesting book that is a bit over the top look into the lives of a game development team. It's a good read but nothing special. I'm about over halfway though the new Harry Potter book and am very happy. I think I may have it finished tonight.
