What I've been doing
It's time to talk about what I've been up too and lets just say I've
been busy. This happens to 300 week on the 360 so you can download an
HD version of the movie, themes and gamer pictures. I bought the
History channel's The Last Stand of the 300 special on the 360 because
it looked interesting. I don't buy a lot of TV shows from Xbox Live
but it's nice to have the option.
After my birthday I decided to go back and pickup a copy of Fable. Yes, Fable came out in 2005 and yes, I've played through the game twice before but I've never played the platinum edition that has the bonus quests that only came out on the PC version.
This is the first backwards compatible title I've actually played the main game on my 360. The title plays well with only one glitch I've seen so far. It is annoying that the game only support 4x3, so on my wide screen the game does stretch to fill the screen. As I started playing the game for a third time I remembered how much I enjoyed the game and why I consider it the best game I played the Xbox.
I have also been spending time with a couple demos on my 360. Of course I love BioShock and wish I could call in sick the day it comes out. If this game doesn't just grab you in the first five minutes I don't know what game will.
I also played the Eternal Sonata demo on the 360 and was presently surprised. I had previously heard very little about this game except it was a JRPG and that it involved Choplin in it's game play. I do like action RPGs so the fact this game is turn based did turn me off at first but when I played the demo I actually had fun. For me this is a rental but for an RPG fan I would pass on this title.
I also played a little John Woo presents Stranglehold. This game looks good and is full of action where you get to kill tons of guys that come running from doors everywhere. The game is a 3rd person shooter and uses the Gears of War game engine. This game should be good but is not for me.
For "real" titles I've been playing Madden '08 and Foarza 2. I've decided to grind out those last couple of achievements for Forza. At one point I owned every car in the game, just not all at the same time. Now I'm trying to buy all the cars.
I am really surprised how much I like Madden '08. I'm not good by any means but I do ok. I'm playing as the Packers and if the game is anything like real life this team may surprise some folks. The Packer defense is really pretty good with some good corners and a solid defensive line. The offense is another story. The running back seems ok and should help but that offensive line is lacking.
I have almost been as busy away from work as I have been at work. I'll save that for another day. I'm doing some fun stuff right now introducing some new tech. This current app has my finger prints all over it so we'll see how it goes. I hope this becomes an app to model all future development on within our group.
