Ziff Davis in trouble?

When it comes video game sites there are three sites that tend to draw the most attention: IGN.com, GameSpot.com and 1Up.com.  Well unless some comes around to bail them out there might be one less.  It's reported that Ziff Davis (owner of 1up.com, EGM magazine and PC Magazine) are in financial trouble and look to be going into bankruptcy.  The media company has shut down more than 10 magazines over the past year and is still in a bit of trouble.  It's been known that their gaming division has been on the market for a while but Ziff is asking too much for the group and has not had any suiters.

I used to spend a lot of time at 1Up.com and still download their podcasts.  The site is geared more towards the hard core gaming fans and has a distinct Sony slant to their delivery of their content.  The site is known for being hard on games and giving solid reviews for games.  A lot of sites tend to give average games good scores but 1Up is a source you can trust and an average game won't get a good score.  Losing 1Up.com would be a great loss of the gaming community as they are one of the few review sites that doesn't pad their review scores.
