The end of Project Gotham Racing as we know it
It has recently been announced that the developers of Project Gotham
Racing, Bizarre Creations, has been acquired by Activision. This comes
with the news that Microsoft has not inked a deal with Bizarre to
create another PGR game. It seems that since Activision is a
multi-platform publisher Bizarre will be working on a new racing title
for them. Microsoft owns the title right to Project Gotham Racing so
expect to see Microsoft develop another PGR game in house. Would be
interesting if Turn 10, developers of Forza, became the new developer
of PGR. Maybe we could see a nice rotation of PGR and Forza gamers.
The next Project Gotham Racing game, PGR 4, will be out next week. It's really a bit of poor timing since the game comes out one week after Halo 3 and will probably get lost in the Halo marketing. PGR 3 was probably the second best launch game for the Xbox 360 behind Call of Duty 2. I will probably pick up PGR4 eventually but most like not till after the holiday season. PGR4 is a great game this holiday season for any Xbox 360 owner.
