Too many games
Right now there are just too many good games to
choose from. Last night I played several demos on my 360. All three
games are currently on sale and all three look totally awesome. VF5 is
the most photo realistic fighter I've ever played and from the demo
(CPU was too easy) I played the frame rate is top notch. I played the
Arcade mode and busted through the three fighters I faced with little
difficulty.
I raced around the track in PGR 4 as well last night. One of the things I've noticed about my gaming habits is I really like playing racing games. I spent a ton of time playing Forza Motorsport 2 this summer and I played a ton of Project Gotham 3 when the XBox 360 launched. PGR 4 offers some new tracks that look amazing and they have added bikes to the mix as well as a dynamic weather system that makes it rain or snow. This is the last PGR built by Blizzard so it could be the last big PGR release for a while.
I've never played one of the biggest selling games over the past couple years. This game has sold millions of copies and is now available on all current consoles. The game I'm talking about is Guitar Hero 3. The game you get a guitar controller and play along to the music on the screen. This game sells like crazy and looks to be a lot of fun. I pulled down the download but I need the guitar to play the demo. You can do it with a controller but the buttons on the guitar do not relate to the buttons on the controller so it's a bit tougher. This time around it's a wireless guitar so that's nice to have. Maybe I'll pick this up but I'm not sure.
After these three games I'm also looking forward to Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Scene It and Viva Pinata: Party Animals. The later two should be fun for the family to play together. Scene It is a movie trivia game that I think Erin will really enjoy and Viva Pinata: Party Animals will be fun to see if Colin will get into games. Mass Effect is an epic Sci-Fi RPG with FPS combat that is the pushing the current hardware to the max. COD4 is made by one of the best FPS developers around and should be an interesting game playing in the modern theater with the Middle East and Rusia.
Really this is a good thing to have as a gamer since there will be so much stuff to play it will easily run into the next year to get though it all. The problem really is why don't developers spread the wealth around a little better? Next March or April everything might slow down again and we'll be waiting to play something good. For now I know I'll just have to split time among several games instead of just pounding through one specific title at a time.
