Playing Call of Duty 4

So after finishing Orange Box I decided to trade that game in for Call of Duty 4.  For people that bought launch Xbox 360's and enjoyed a good FPS Call of Duty 2 was the best game available.  The developers of the Call of Duty franchise, Infinity Ward, have built a franchise that is know for it's incredible graphics, solid story telling and amazing game play.  Call of Duty 2 was a challenging fast paced World War II FPS that placed you in Normandy, North Africa and Russia.  The other great part of COD2 was their multiplayer that offered the best online play for several months.

So far Call of Duty 4 lives up to my expectations of an Infinity Ward game.  You have fast and frenzied action that requires you to find the best way to flank your enemy.  The game forces you to advance across the battle field because you can't just sit back and pick people off because there seems to be an endless stream of insurgents to take the last ones' place.

I think I'm about half way through the game and there have been some great levels so far.  The craziest level is manning the guns of a A130 Helicopter.  Here you get to switch between three guns and provide air support as several enemies approach your men on the ground or setup ambushes.  The part that really sticks out is how clinical the other guys in the helicopter react to your kills.

I have yet to play the multiplayer or the arcade mode of the game.  I'll have to try those modes out and let you know how they play.  I'm currently playing the game on Regular difficult and it's not too difficult.  There are some brick wall moments but nothing that is stopping me cold.  I think this game has a lot of replay ability.

I also want to note that Infinity Ward did not make Call of Duty 3 so don't hold that game against them.  After delivering Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward went straight to work on COD4 and has spent the last two years making this game great.  If you are a FPS fan I highly recommend picking this game up.
