Amazon Customer Prefer HD-DVD and Wii

Last year I believe was the first time Amazon offered up the ability for their customers to vote on a specific item to get a great deal on Black Friday.  Last year the winner was the Xbox 360 and 1000 units where available for $100 on Black Friday.  This time around Amazon has decided to run the same promotion but it will run over six days.

The first day item has already been selected and will be available on Thursday.  There will be 1000 units of Nintendo Wii on sale for $79 this Thursday.  The Wii beat out the PS3 and Xbox 360 this year in voting.

The next round that caught my eye was the HD options in round 4: BluRay vs HD-DVD vs TivoHD.  This round is not yet closed but so far the Toshiba HD-DVD player leads with 42% of the vote, followed by the Tivo HD with 36% of the vote and in the rear is the Samsung BluRay player with 23% of the vote.  The 1080P Toshiba HD-DVD player could be sod for $149 on Nov 26th which is a $250 savings.  I'm hoping HD-DVD is the big winner this holiday season so we can just end all the format war talk and I can feel safe buying movies again.

The other big ticket item is in round 6.  There is a Samsung 46" 1080p LCD that could go on sale for $719, over $1000 below normal asking price.  I'm currently not in the market for another HDTV but this is a very nice deal.  This one will be available November 28th, next Wednesday.
