Xbox Live Video Marketplace coming to Canada and Europe [UPDATE]
One of the best features of the Xbox 360 will be available in Canada
and parts of Europe starting December 11th. The service will be
launched with a limited selection of Warner Bros movies. The content
does change by market but there is a good list that includes 300,
Matrix Trilogy, Eyes Wide Shut, Training day and many more.
Looks like the UK, France and Germany will be the first test markets in Europe. These three tend to support Xbox much better than the rest so it's not too surprising they are leading the pack. HD movies will cost 380 MS points while SD content will be 250 MS points which looks to be taking notice that the Euro is stronger than the dollar since we pay 320 for SD and 480 for HD in the US. The movies will have the same 14 day rental period or 24 hours after starting the movie. There is no TV content yet but is possible it could be available down the road.
This is a good move by Microsoft and should help them gain some good will in Europe. Hopefully the service will grow to the size of the US offering and will help push the model of downloading your HD content instead of buying a disk. With Sony now offering a download service in Japan it will be only a matter of time they start offering the same service elsewhere.
Update: Added a new link to a site that lists out content by location.
