Well it did not take long for Amazon to decide to place a generic page up for you to be able to pre-order Gears of War 2.  The game is not officially in development and has not been formally announced but we all know a sequel is coming.  In fact we know that there will be two more Gears of War games coming since Epic sold the game to Microsoft as a trilogy. 

It's kind of funny that with all they hype Gears of War received building up to it's release that this time around there is no formal acknowledgment of the title.  Back in 2006 when the Gears of War was released on the Xbox 360 there was talk of a sequel and mention of a sequel spilled by Epic. 

The current rumor is that Gears of War 2 will be coming to the Xbox 360 this November.  I would think that the game will be officially announced at the Games Developer Conference in February.  The game will probably be running on the same engine used for the Gears of War PC version released this Fall.  Hopefully Epic will spend some more time hammering out the single player story and will build a more feature rich multiplayer experience.
