After reading the EGM cover story and watching the 1up Show's coverage of Street Fighter 4 I'm getting excited for the game that should be out in 2008 for Xbox 360 and PS3.  It seems the folks behind Street Fighter 4 want to take a step back from the ultra realistic, combo crazy fighting games like Virtua Fighter 5.  The new SF4 will be done in the traditional cartoon style and the fighting will all be done in 2D.

The goal of the new Street Fighter is to create a fighting game that anyone can pick and play.  The characters and environments will be done in cartoon style 3D but the fighting will all be done in 2D.  It seems parry system is gone in SF4 and will be replaced with a "Saving" system.  It seems you will have two gages to will, one will fill up as your perform combos to do a super move and another will fill up as you get hit.  The saving system has not been fully explained but might we used an another way to perform super moves.

I'm interested to see how this game turns out.  From screen shots and videos it really just looks like a better drawn Street Fighter 2.  If they can make a fun approachable fighting game then it may just save that genera.  Fighting games just are not selling anymore as they have done too crazy with their complex combos.
