Kingdom Under Fire:Circle of Doom Demo Impressions
I got a chance to play the new Kingdom Under Fire game's demo on Xbox
360. The demo was available last week and after a couple failed
attempts I got he whole 1.2 GB file downloaded. Now Kingdom Under
Fire:Circle of Doom is a Action RPG in the dungeon crawling style of
game play. The game can definitely called a hack and slash button
masher.
For me this falls right in my wheel house. I like a nice kill everything that moves game set in a fantasy environment. This game is made my the same folks as Ninety-Nine Nights and the art style and incredible graphics are found in this game as well. From the demo it seems the game play has changed a little it that the game is less concerned with hit counts and you don't face off against thousands of enemies at once. The level I played was more designed like the last level of N3 or more like Dynasty Warriors where you traverse a map and fight smaller bands of enemy.
I found the combo system easy to pick up and like the ability to map different weapons and potions to buttons on the controller. The RPG elements of the game are based on the leveling up of your character and the different levels and wear on weapons and armor. As you kill enemies they will drop armor, potions, weapons and items to wear that increase some abilities.
Now this game is not going to be for everyone. It has not gotten good reviews mostly because the the repetitive game play and brain dead enemies. Still I know I will give this game a try since I liked N3 and liked the demo. It's not as mainstream a game as a FPS but does add a little bit of variety to my games play list.
