So far I've gotten too deep into the story line of Mass Effect but I have been spending a lot of time int he game.  Mass Effect is a modern western designed RPG that takes place in the future where humans have discovered space travel and are expanding their presence in the universe.  You play as a captain of a ship and are promoted to something like the Texas Rangers (not the baseball team but Old West) of the universe.

The game allows you to customize your character so you can change everything from gender to the crook of their nose.  You can also change your first name but in the game everyone will call you by your last name, Shepard.  The gist of the game is you are now part of a universal community with multiple races and not everyone likes humans.  You have to hunt down a rogue agent that does not seem to care for humans too much.  So far it's a compelling story and I think I'll be playing this game for a while.

Technically the game looks great but I did decide to remove the movie grain texture.  This effect allowed the game to have a movie look to it that I just didn't like.  Other than that the controls seem good and but I have some issues with the cover system.  Since this is using the Gears of War engine cover was added to the game.  I have not figured out how to use it effectively yet.

As I play more I'll be sure to post more about Mass Effect.  So far I'm really enjoying the game and all the little side quests.  I'm almost to a point I feel like I'm never going to get off the current space station because of all the side quests.  That's probably not a bad thing to have in a game.
