Bought the Vizio

So I went out on Friday and bought a new TV for the bedroom.  It came down to the Samsung and the Vizio 20" LCD HDTVs.  From a straight specification match up it was fairly even.  Both are 720p and have similar contrast ratios.  In the store the Vizio had a better looking picture than the Samsung so I ended up with the Vizio.  Now I ended up buying mine at Circuit City because they had both TVs and from looking at Costco's web site it did not appear that they carried the smaller Vizio models.  Well as I walked through Costco Saturday morning I saw my TV for $50 cheaper.  Oh, well.  I already hocked it up and was not going to do through the hassle of returning the TV for the marginal price difference.

Now since I don't have cable or anything in my bedroom I bought an HD capable antena.  I read good things about the Philips so I went with this one.  Once i hooked it up and let the TV scan for channels I was surprised to see how many digital channels it found.  Almost every channel in the Twin Cities has 2 or 3 digital feeds.  Most are only transmitting a HD and SD feed but some like Kare 11 (local NBC) transmits HD feed, a weather feed and one that just shows the evening lineup.  Our local PBS transmits three feeds on both 2 and 17 with all unique feeds.  Going from getting the standard 4-5 channels to getting 17 digital channels is kinda crazy.  Best thing too is every channel looks great with no receptions problems like the ones that plagued the old TV.
