NPD's due this week
You know this is my favorite week of the month! We get to see the sales numbers for the three big consoles and the top 10 games sold for the month of February. Last month we saw the PS3 out sell the Xbox 360 for the first time ever in the US. Will this month be a repeat or will Xbox 360 regain it's 2nd place seat behind the Wii.
It is expected that this month the Wii and Xbox 360 will not be as supply constrained as they were in January. Early numbers but the Wii is the high 400Ks for February with the Xbox 360 narrowly beating out the PS3. I've seen some crazy 360 and PS3 numbers but I tend to think both console will be selling less than 300K but above 250K.
On the games front it will be dominated by Xbox 360 and Wii games. The Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry 4 should lead the charts with the PS3 version not too far behind. DMC4 is the first of the big PS2 games this year to go multiplatform. This multi-million copy selling game will sell much better on the 360, close to 1.6X better. Burnout Paradise should also be better represented on this chart and it will be interesting to see how well it performs compared to it's PS3 counterpart.
All the hard data will be released Thursday evening so I'll try to get something up after the data comes out. I'll be at a conference this weekend so I'll be sure to have more analysis on Monday.
