My HD-DVD Conundrum

As I've posted before I bought into the HD-DVD format with the Xbox 360 add-on drive and have been doing some bargain shopping on HD-DVD movies on Amazon.  Well recently I bought a Wifi connector for my 360 that uses the USB port on the back of the 360.  After doing this I needed to put the USB cable from the HD-DVD player into one of the front USB ports.  Well now my 360 is occasionally not recognizing my HD-DVD drive.  This just kinda sucks a lot when you want to watch a movie.

So now I'm looking at the possibility of either buying an HD-DVD player, a combo drive or just dealing with the sporadic ability to watch HD-DVDs.  I really don't want to buy an HD-DVD player because I know I will eventually buy a BluRay player. I don't have the space to have that many components under my TV.  I would like to buy the a combo player but the price is still too high for my tastes.  I'm hoping to wait six months to a year and see what they are priced at then.

What really sucks is that technology is expensive.  Being an early adapter means you're often going to be screwed as better, cheaper tech is just around the corner.  Still if you have an HDTV and are not watching HD movies then you really aren't getting enough use out of your TV.  I only spent $150 on the HD-DVD player so that's not too bad but I've easily surpassed that on media purchases.  I'm not willing to toss that media away so I'm suck either buying a hd-dvd player or a combo player.
