What are you going?

I almost named this What game are you gaming? in reference to the 3 Red Light's podcast but I'm going to talk more about other media than just games.  Obviously I've been playing a whole lot of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 but I've also thrown in Lost Odyssey, Geometry Wars, Tempest and Space Giraffe.  While my HD-DVD player was working I watched American Gangster, 40year old Virgin and Old School.  I'm also watching the current season of Big Brother on TV.

There has been a lot of talk about how the developers of N+ have said that Xbox Live Arcade is full of crap games.  Well a developer over at Capcom responded to this by basically saying there needs to be a better way to organize the games.  I tend to think that there are a whole lot of games on XBLA and it's not easy to know what's good or not.  I tend to listen to forums and podcasts to find out which ones are worth playing.  Space Giraffe is one of the really good ones I've played.  It's a bit psychedelic and a little like Tempest but way better.  I've played Tempest recently and I can attest that it did not age well.

I guess i don't get the N+ guy's complaint.  Did they do any advertisement for their game?  Did they make any attempt to get on gaming podcasts to get more exposure for their game?  Are they charging for a game that's free on PCs?  I guess they expected millions of Xbox 360 users to pay for their game that's free on a PC.  Why would I pay to play this game?

I did throw Lost Odyssey back in to give another chance.  I re-entered that cave and what did the game try to do?  The same exact thing trying to cast All-Stone on my entire party.  This time I was looking out for it though.  I went after the punks that cast this spell first so they could only get me once in a turn unlike the last time when they got be twice and my entire party died.  I'm going to see how much further I can go until I get annoyed again.  It seems the difficulty on disk 4 really ramps up but I do like the game so I'll hang in their as long as I can.

After hearing a lot of good press from a radio station I listen to I decided to buy American Gangster before seeing it.  The movie is interesting and I like the style of the period piece but it never really grabbed me.  It was interesting to see how one man turned the drug trade in New York on it's head.  It's a good movie but I was hoping for more.

I don't know if I'll be buying any more movies any time soon.  With sporadic service out of my HD-DVD player I don't think it's wise to buy anymore of those.  I'm not going to buy anymore DVDs because I've gone HD and I can't go back.  Once I eventually pick up a PS3 I'll start buying BluRays.
