Casual Game Weekend
Over the weekend I'd have to say I spent more time playing casual games and watching movies. I finally got a chance to watch I am Legend with Will Smith and I really enjoyed that movie. It is by far the best movie I've seen this year so far and really liked how this movie ended up. On the other end of the spectrum I got to see The Assassination of Jesse James with Brad Pitt. I was not impressed with the Jesse James movie and I ended up falling asleep and not bothering to go back and watching the rest of the movie. To close the weekend out I watch the Return of the King which is an excellent movie when you skip all the hobbit scenes.
On a gaming front I played some Guitar Hero 3, DDR Universe 2 and Lumines Live with the wife. The difficulty level in DDR between the bottom two options is a bit too vast for us. We can clear a few songs on the harder difficulty but not many. On the easier settings we don't exactly ace the songs but the pace is so slow it's not much of a workout which is the reason I got the game.
I'm playing a lot more Lumines recently mostly because I enjoy a good falling block puzzle game but it's also I game I can play from my treadmill. Since an average Lumines game for me lasts over a half hour I can play one game for my entire workout. I'm a little annoyed it's so hard to earn achievements in Lumines but it is a challenging game once the game speeds up. My wife doesn't really get the game but Colin enjoys playing. Of course his idea of playing is seeing how fast he can build a tower which ends the game. Still he's having fun playing the game and that is what matters the most.
I did play some Halo 3 and Dark Sector over the weekend. I found Griff Ball to be gay so I only played a couple matches. I'll have an impressions post up on Dark Sector soon. So far it's kind of a mix between Gears of War (nice environments, 3rd person, cover) and FarCry (loose controls, lame story, poor quality) with game enjoyment closer to FarCry.
