The Games I'm Gaming

Another week has passed and I'm still playing Devil May Cry 4.  Ever since I started playing on Son of Sparta mode I've been taking it easy with this game.  Instead of playing the mission levels I've been spending most of my time in the arena clearing mode Bloody Palace.  I have had great success with this mode but I finally got to the 20th stage.  Unfortunately I was greeted by the fire boss demon, Berial, whom defeats me fairly easily because I've got barely any health.  I think I need to hit youtube and see how others are handling the stages I'm having difficulty with.

I am also spending a lot of time right now playing Dark Sector.  I have mixed feelings about this game since it plays perfectly fine, looks incredible but just is not very compelling.  One thing you might think while playing this game is that it's the Gears of War engine with the amazingly similar art style and the ability to take cover exactly like in Gears.  The one difference is this engine actually performs better with no image loading issues.    It's really too bad there just isn't much of a story in this game because if feel like there should be.  There seems to be some back story which the game does a horrible job of telling through cut scenes.  So far I'm not happy I bought this game and may trade it in for something else soon.

I am very happy I rented BlackSite: Area 51 since it is a very poorly made first person shooter.  I tend to think people in the games biz think "hey FPS are hot, we should make one cause everyone loved Halo" so then end up making a game like BlackSite.  This sci-fi shooter has levels that are so claustrophobic you'll start feeling like a mouse looking for the cheese at the end of the maze.  It's not easy to make a gamer feel like their not walking down a  corridor in a FPS but games like Halo, BioShock and Call of Duty seem to get it right.  There is not much good in BlackSite but at least there are only six levels and I just completed number 4 so I'm almost home.
