My Week in Gaming
Another weekend is upon us so it's time for the weekly update. This week I broke away from playing Devil May Cry and Halo 3 to play some new games and watch a movie. I decided to download Beowulf from Xbox Live Marketplace. Now I read the Old English version of the story in high school and loved the story. I know I wrote a couple papers on the subject and even read John Gardner's Grendel (which I also loved). I have to say I really didn't care too much for this movie. I'm not a huge of fan the deviation from the original tale or the deterioration of the characters valor. A better letting of the story can be found in the 2005 film Beowulf & Grendel. If all you wanted to do was see more Angelina Jolie then you'd be better renting Gia.
On the 360 I've been playing Army of Two from Ubisoft. I have to say this game is nothing special and I'm only playing it because I want the achievements and I prefer to finish games I've started. It's a 3rd person shooter where you play as a mercenary military contractor and you discover a plot to replace the US military with a private military. I really don't like the controls for changing weapons or for controlling your AI partner. The game is really meant to be played in co-op but that's just not the case for me since no one I know has this game.
When I'm not killing insurgents, terrorist or Chinese soldiers I've been playing Gran Turismo 5: Prologue on the PS3. I have to say I really do like this game a lot. It is a very enjoyable racing sim that does a good job of engrossing the player. The graphics are very nice and the racing is not overly complex. I have hit one race that is stopping me from progressing in the event mode. I need to place in the top three in a race where I start in last place of 16 cars. So I need to pass 12 cars in one lap to clear the section. So far my best finish has been 6th. I hope to spend some time racing tonight so hopefully I'll clear this race then start on the final tier of races.
I have to admit I'm still playing Devil May Cry and the game clock is getting very close to 60 hours. The sad part is all I'm doing is playing Bloody Palace hoping to get passed the 30th stage. I'm now getting there almost every attempt but I really am not having a good time fighting Burial. That boss is just a little more than I can handle. I should probably see what other people to against him. I did learn a few trick watching Youtube to figure out how to fight a couple of the tougher ones. I also need to spend some time improving my health bar. I think I'm missing something like 19 blue stones so maybe I'll go back to the game and work on getting those.
