Games, Books, Movies, Oh My!!!
So I've been a little busy lately and have been spending any free time I have playing games, watching movies and reading a very good book. Since I knew I would have jury duty and that entitled a lot of waiting around I bought tow books written by Ron Paul.
I just finished reading The Revolution: A Manifesto which one might call his campaign book but it really is just his publishing of his believes on several key issues. It's an excellent read that I recommend to anyone with Libertarian or Republican beliefs. It sure made jury duty a lot more interesting.
I watched There Will be Blood this weekend and I have to say that was one disturbing movie. It was really hard to watch someone who only kept people around that he could profit from. The main character's willingness to throw away anyone he no longer had use for was brutal. His relationship with his adopted son really bothered me.
I also got to watch Juno recently which ended up being probably the best movie I saw from 2007. I really didn't know much about this movie but was impressed with how good the movie turned out. I liked the characters and felt the movie went some places that you just don't see movies willing to go.
I finally finished playing GTA IV on Sunday. I got the last achievement I'm willing to hunt down and am not really into the online multiplayer. I will hang onto the game because there will be two 360 exclusive missions for download coming. I really like the story in the game so I'm hoping the two new missions will impress me as much as the main story. There are a few achievements I could get hunting down like finding pigeons or criminals but it's time to move on. I played the multiplayer on Saturday night and it was almost like everyone I hate on Xbox Live all showed up to play GTA IV.
I'm still playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on the PS3. I'll throw up a dedicated impressions post eventually but so far it's just ok. Typical Sony game with too many cut scenes that tell a cookie cutter story line. Still the game has it's moments where it is fun to play. Doesn't hurt that it's the only PS3 retail game I have right now. So far there are a couple points I've gotten stuck and just am not willing to spend too much time to get past. I'm over half way through the game so I will probably come back but not because the game is amazingly compelling.
I played a little more of the GRID demo on the PS3. So far I think the game looks great and should be fun to play. I'm not sure if I'll have time to actually pick this one up so it'll go on my GameFly queue. Driving in cockpit mode is incredible with real damage. I'd recommend checking out this demo just to experience the cockpit view.
Lastly I did play a little DDR with the wife and kids this weekends. Actually I played DDR one night with the wife and while she was at work I played DDR with the kids. I think we are actually getting a lot better at the game and have started clearing songs at the next difficulty. The kids just like to go crazy running around on the mat. There is a free style mode which is great for them because you just hit the steps you want to and can't fail the song.
Needless to say I'm keeping busy at home. This week Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out for the Xbox 360 so I'll be picking that one up this week. I'm hoping to get Resistance from GameFly this week but will probably hold off playing too much until I get through Ninja Gaiden 2. I played Ninja Gaiden Black on the original Xbox but it was a bit too hard for me.
