Good Bye Soul Caliber IV, Hello GRID

As with everything it was time to move on from Soul Caliber IV.  It was a nice fighting game but didn't have enough to keep me wanting to come back for more.  Sure it has swords and other weapons in it to fight with but it was missing that special something that makes a game stand above the rest.

I got GRID last week from GameFly but just did not have any time to play.   GRID came out in June I think and it's a very competent racing game in the model of a Project Gotham Racing/Forza Mototsport.     I played the demo on the PS3 but decided to rent the 360 version of the game.  On the PS3 I really didn't care for the controls but on the 360 it follows similar control of other racers on that console.  I think the controls are tighter now than on the demo I played.

I'll be talking more about GRID because it is an excellent racing game.  It's built by the folks that created Dirt so you'll see the same menu system.  Unlike Dirt, GRID is a racing game on professional courses and through city streets.  I would consider GRID closer to Forza in that you drive on tracks with lots of different types of vehicles but has some of the arcade features of a drifting game.

GRID fell off my radar this summer because I've been waiting to rent it from GameFly.  It fell victim to my horrible renting practice where I often put games on my queue and then forget about them.  I think I've played a couple good games but a lot of games i get I end up sitting on them too long then playing a couple minutes then sending them back.  I'm tempted to cancel GameFly and go back to my buy and trade practice.  That way I play more games when they come out instead of when they are eventually sent to me off my queue.
