Too Human Class Breakdown

The first choice you are forced to make when playing Too Human is to figure out which class to align yourself.  Since there are five distinct variations of Balder for you to choose from it might very well determine how much enjoyment you get out of the game.  I have completed the first mission of the game with all five class and have all classes ranging in level from 44 to 10.  I hope that after reading this you will know which class is the best for you.

By default most people seem to choose the Champion class because this class seems the most balanced.  The Champion has balanced hit points, melee and range attacks but does this make him the best of both worlds or the weakest?  Depending on how you prefer to play the Champion is not a good fit.  The Champion's skill class trees does allow you to improve either your melee or range attacks so you can choose to master one over the other.  To succeed with the Champion you really need to play with a balanced attack of range and melee combat.  If you favor melee or ballistic attacks choosing the Champion will only make the game more difficult.

For the most part Too Human favors melee combat over ranged weapons except in the boss battles.  For those players that do favor the range weapons you can choose the Commando class.  The Commando starts out with a much further range with his guns and they are very effective.  The Commando does not rush into the heart of the battle but instead picks off enemies as they rush towards him.  The Commando's class skill trees are geared towards improving your range combat abilities.  You will have some success using your melee weapon as a Champion but it is not ideal.

If you are looking for a hack and slash style of play the best class for you may be the Berserker.  This class allows you to hold two swords and emphasizes melee attacks.  This class is ideal for heading straight into the heart of the fight and killing enemies as fast as you can.  The Berserker's skill tree aims for you to improve your attack speed and attack damage.  If anything you can't go wrong with any of the three paths for the Berserker since they all improve the speed and amount of damages the attacks the Berserker dishes out.  The Berserker is my personal favorite class.

So you've been dieing a lot in Too Human and are looking for a better class for you?  The Bio Engineer is the one you want to play as because this class offers huge hit points and regenerating health.  The Bio Engineer is probably the best starting class for the casual crowd.  This class is much more balanced because it deals out more damage than any of the other classes.  It's skill tree class does tend to emphasize the melee combat offering the ability to level up one handed or two handed combat.  By leveling one of these paths up you will deal out some serious melee damage so you can get up close and personal with the goblins.  That said don't forget about the third path which offers the most interesting ability that turns your enemies on each other.

The last class is the Defender which specializes in taking a lot of damage.  This class moves slow but can dish out some interesting attacks.  With a Defender you can cause your enemies to freeze or redirect damage taken onto the attacker.  This is the only class that comes with a shield and it can be used in combat.  I found the defender fun to play but felt it was slow to level up and was a bit too slow with attacks.

I hope this provides a nice round up of which classes you can play in Too Human.  I did find that by playing different characters I got better at the game and significantly decreased the amount of times I died.  My first play though as a Berserker I managed to not die on the Hall of Hero's mission.  I suspect that the Bio Engineer is probably the best class to choose it you do die a lot since this class can regenerate health.  If you'd like to see a nice page that covers all the skill trees for every character I suggest you check out wikicheats.com's class and alignment page.  This will show you all the possible skill variations between characters.  Some have said there isn't much difference between characters but I have to strongly disagree.  Each class is different based on game play style and your enjoyment of Too Human will depend on picking the correct class.
