Gaming it up hard
I have to say it is a good time to be a gamer. Whether you are a hardcore shooter or RPG fan or a casual party game fan there are plenty of games to play. I've been spending a lot of time in Fable 2 completing the side quests as I quest to find all 50 gargoyles and all the silver keys. I really do enjoy the mindless pursuit of collection items in games be it the green orbs in Crackdown or finding the cog tags in gears of War. Its one of those activities I normally reserve for when I've completed a game's story.
So have so far found 39 silver keys and 43 gargoyles in my travels within Fable 2. A smart move by the Fable 2 folks is they tied the discovery of the keys and gargoyles to accepting certain side quests. Some of these dungeons are not unlocked unless you have accepted the quest. I'm thinking I'll have to play through every quest if I actually want to find every silver key and gargoyle.
Since it's the weekend I have plans to play a lot of Gears of War 2 over the next couple days. I'm going to stick to the multiplayer in an effort to improve my rank. Right now I've not gotten used to Gears 2 multiplayer so I'm getting killed a whole lot. So far I have no idea what the match making is doing. I seem to get paired with a bunch of people at my skill level but end of facing a bunch of people at a higher skill level. This doesn't lead to many very good matches. I absolutely dread it when I'm playing so bad the people on my team start calling me out. I think I'm playing too conservatively and need to play a little more like Halo where I tend to seek out the conflict. Hanging back is just not working for me.
I'm not sure if I will have time but I want to go out and buy Lips for the 360. It didn't get great review scores but for a easy Karaoke game I'm interested. The fact it comes with two wireless mics doesn't hurt either. I'm going to pick one up after work and I'll report on Monday how it goes. This weekend we are hosting two birthday parties for Colin. I think the adults might need an introduction to Lips and my alter ego, Darkest Topper.
