Playing more Lips

My wife and I played some more Lips on Saturday night.  We discovered three new game modes to try out together.  First thing I did though was check out the game's ability to get more music.  The game automatically scans your hard drive, any computer you've linked to your 360 and Xbox Live marketplace.  I ended up downloading two songs (Allstar by Smashmouth and Give a little bit by Supertramp) from Xbox Live. I wasn't that impressed with this week's holiday songs but did see a lot of good holiday song that would be available December 12th.

Once I had the songs in Lips I added them to the play list I created last time we played.  This really is just excluding all the country and rap songs that came included with the game.  We first started playing a fight mode were the two singers on the stage try to knock the other one off.  Think of this mode is the guitar battle from Guitar Hero with surprisingly similar graphics of the fan's arms in the air.  This was a fun mode that we didn't really understand how the scoring worked but was a fun competitive mode which my wife routinely beat me.

Another mode we played is called called Kiss where you get two people on screen to kiss.  Kiss is a friendly co-op mode where each player picks a male or female silhouette.  Then as you sing the two silhouettes run towards each other, getting closer together as you both perform better i the song.  Once you both can activate "star power" (not the official name I'm sure but some idea) both players need to perform the defined movement on the screen in unison.  If performed successfully the two silhouettes perform a passionate kiss with fireworks or rockets blasting off in the background, if failed you may get slapped or jump and miss each other.  You can attempt this several times while one song plays.

The last mode we played was called Bomb.  This was a fairly easy mode to play co-op where each player has an empty glass and a bomb with a long fuss is lit.  You need to finish the song before the bomb goes off.  As you sing better the glass fills up with water so once you fill your glass you can pour the water on the fuss of the bomb.  This mode was a bit easy in co-op since we both got separate glasses and could take turns defusing the bomb.

I think I have found the perfect spouse game that we can both play and both enjoy.   Both times we've played together we've spent hours playing.  It's a lot more fun than DDR and it's a lot easier than playing Guitar Hero so we both can enjoy playing together.  I think it doesn't hurt that my wife is better at Lips than me while on Guitar Hero I'm much better than her.
