Not Getting into Fallout 3
I normally never blog about games I don't like. If I play a stink bomb of a game I tend to just keep it to myself. I may mention I'm playing it or give some initial impressions but for the most part I'll never mention the game's name again if it sucks. Now I'm not saying Fallout 3 sucks or that is belongs with the other games I've eluted to. I'm just saying I can't seem to get into Fallout 3.
I really enjoyed playing Oblivion so I assumed I'd love playing Fallout 3 since it's by the same developer. Turns out Fallout 3 has none of the charms of Oblivion and a lot of the crap. For one thing the world is a wasteland in all directions. This is to be expected but still it makes traveling around kind of lame since I'm on foot.
I think the real problem is I prefer the RPG style of Fable 2 over Fallout 3. Fable 2 is colorful and full of interesting people while Fallout 3 is desolate and sparsely populated. Fable 2 tend to lead the gamer by the hand while Fallout 3 says go explore and maybe you'll find something cool. Anyone can pickup Fable 2 and enjoy the game play while Fallout 3 is more for the hardcore fans. I can go on but I think you've got the idea.
I've heard some say Fallout 3 is better on the PC but I don't feel that has anything to do with my lack of enjoyment from Fallout 3. I feel like this game has a lot of depth but none of it is every really explained. Maybe if I had played previous Fallout games I'd understand but so far it's lost on me. I sunk over 100 hours playing Oblivion and perhaps Fallout 3 has that same depth but I just don't feel completed to put that much time into this game.
