Finished Dead Space

So it's been a while but I finally completed Dead Space.  Dead Space is a very nice sci-fi 3rd person shooter that takes place on a huge mining space ship.  You are tasked with fixing the ship and end up having to kill a few monsters spawned by the undead crew.  You are just some mechanic so you are armed with a laser cutter and other not traditional weapons.

The game does a very good job engrossing you in the experience making you feel like you're on that ship.  The games graphics are great and the lighting effects are excellent as you explore this dark and scary ship.  The use of audio logs and the introduction of some survivors helps you understand what happened on this ship and lets you really see how twisted this game turns out to be.

Some have gone so far as to say this is their game of the year nominee but I have to say that's putting too much praise for this game.  I find the levels got a little too long towards the end as you are sent from one area of the ship to another to fix some item needed to escape.  I think I finished the game in 13 hours but felt those last couple mission were too repetitive and excessively long.

That said I would recommend this game to anyone to rent.  Since there is no multiplayer there really is no reason to buy this game.  I can''t see anyone replaying this title unless you wanted to get all 1000 achievement points.  This was a sleeper hit for me and I suggest if you enjoy the movies like Aliens or Event Horizon to check this game out.
