The Force Unleashed Sucks
I know, I know. This game is probably your favorite Star Wars game ever but I can tell you one thing it absolutely sucks. I just finished slogging my way through the entire game and all but the very end on Sith Warrior difficulty. That was part of the problem I'm sure.
For those that don't know The Force Unleashed is a Star Wars game that takes place between the episodes 3 and 4 in the Star Wars movies. Vader is hunting down Jedi and comes across the son of one Jedi. After killing the father he takes the son as an apprentice.
If you'd like to play the game I suggest you don't read this paragraph cause I'm going to layout the story of the game. Vader trains the young Sith as his spy and he ends up hunting down the Jedi for Vader. Vader tells the boy he wants to use him to defeat the Emperor but of course Vader is lying. Eventually the boy is discovered by the Emperor and Vader attempts to kill the apprentice but doesn't. The apprentice is saved by Vader and is told to cause troupe your the empire and get the spies off Vader's back. The apprentice turns to a Jedi he blinded and in battle to start the rebellion. Vader ends up betraying the apprentice and the apprentice then attacks the Death Star and saves the rebel leaders.
Truth be told the story in this game is fairly good. It's a compelling tail that is wasted on this trash video game. The biggest complaint has to be the fact the game looks like it's built for the last generation hardware. Ugly CGI and reused levels make this game one of the worst looking games I've played all year. Maybe if Lucas Arts hadn't canned the entire development team upon completion they could have put another layer of paint on this pig to beauty it up a little.
The playability of this game is were it really fails. It is essentially a corridor hack and slash game with a few force powers thrown in to spice things up. To up the difficulty they just throw the entire empire's army at you and make taking a few powers kill you super fast. Play this game on anything but the easiest difficulty then expect to die 100 times per level at the end of the game. This helps get the multiple kill achievements but it really slows the game down and makes it more frustrating than fun. Add is the boring level design anyone out of high school you create then you've got one stinker of a game.
I honestly only kept playing because I love Star Wars, needed the points to break 40K and was interested in how the story would turn out. I definitely do not recommend paying money for this game. Rent it and then mail it back. Save yourself the agony and play it on the easiest difficulty because the next one up is but of a jump.
