I think a lot of people saw this coming but 1UP.com has been sold to UGO from Ziff Davis and EGM will be shutting it's doors.  Sometime last year we saw several of the well known editors either leave or shift over to the 1UP network of web sites.  I believe that was a preemptive move placing talent on the safer, more profitable web site. 

The magazine has become a shell of what it used to be when I first subscribed.  It was clearly getting a lot thinner with less meaningful articles or exclusive previews of top tier games.  When they started reviewing BluRay movies it was clear the magazine had over extended it's necessity.  I'm a bit curious what will happen to my subscription since it doesn't expire till June of 2011.
