Beware of the Big-Government Tipping Point

I was pointed in the direction of a very interesting Wall Street Journal article, Beware of the Big-Government Tipping Point, about where our country is heading.  This article covers a fear I have heard expressed lately, the middle class becoming more dependent on the state.  The idea is you have people become dependent on their subsidies then anyone who threatens to pull the tit from their mouth will never be elected.

You already have the lower class, teachers and auto workers in the back pocket of every Democrat, why not add the middle class?  Offer the middle class cheap state run health insurance that will undercut the private market.  Then use fear to make sure any tax cut or change to the system will sound like a direct threat to their well being.  We have already seen this in another government program: Social Security.  The third rail of politics is about to get a partner in crime, a state run health care system.
