Playing Afro Samurai
Yesterday was a total waste of a gaming time for me since I watched Lost then went into a production deployment that lasted till past midnight. During the call I did get some time to turn on my DS and get through to the next castle in Super Mario Bros. Once the call was over I decided to play some Afro Samurai on the 360. Now I have never watched the show on TV (game based on cartoon....expectations lowered) but it looked like a nice hack and slash with Samuel L. Jackson voicing the narrator.
The game is in an anime art style which does look very good in the game. The game doesn't use a HUD but instead uses little items on screen to show you if your taking damage or have build up your combo meter. Over time your shirt will become stained in blood as you take damage and your sword with shine as your combo meter builds up. So far I'm a little lost in the story as it seems to jump around a lot. The game seems to be developed by someone who loved the first Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox because it feels very similar. It even has the same horrible camera system.
Right now there aren't a whole lot of quality games to play. This one has something going for it since it's built on a popular TV series and has some famous people providing voice acting. I'm looking forward to playing more and seeing if the game has some real depth. So far it's just a good looking button masher.
