Paying Taxes is Patriotic (EDIT)
That was the great quote from Joe Biden during the Obama presidential
campaign. I bet the president is regretting his VP said that now.
Considering two of the president's cabinet nominees have withdrawn
their nomination over tax problems and a third was approved even
though he had $34,000 tax issue. Seems one might question why the
president is nominating so many "unpatriotic" people? Ok, that's a low blow but it's deserved.
I just finished doing my taxes this year and found out I jumped up a tax bracket. I use software to do my taxes and it's quit amazing how much you can deduct. I have a very simple return were I deduct mortgage interest, two minor dependents and taxes paid. In all I paid over$XX,XXX 25% of my taxable income last year in taxes once I deduct my tax refund. That is a
fair piece of change. I know there is a growing belief among some
that not everyone is paying their fair share of taxes or that the rich
don't pay taxes. Well I wonder if those people ever handed $XXXXX
25% of their taxable income over to the government to spend as they wish?
Edit: Someone complained I used real figures so I removed them. Also after double checking my math I realized that number was LOW. I was deducting my refund when I shouldn't have been because the number was with my refund deducted already.
