HDTV Calibration comes to Xbox 360 Community

Now I tend to not explore the community games section of Xbox Live because I rather not play someone's experiment.  Still I do on occasion see what games are available or are gathering some buzz.  One interesting title that made it onto my radar is not a game at all.  In fact it's just a software tool to help you calibrate your HDTV settings.  An annoying fact about HDTVs is that the factory settings normally are junk unless you light your house like a Best Buy.

This community game is available for 200 ms points ($2.50) on Xbox Live.  The game will help you adjust your colors by helping you adjust brightness and your red/green/blue levels.  The tool will also show you your max resolution and if you have and dead pixels.  There are several different color patterns to help you adjust your colors.  I ended up dropping my brightness down and adjusting my colors.  I had already tuned my TV before but the tool helped me get them even better.  The best screen for color had large solid lines of white, red, green and blue.  As I adjusted the colors I could see how they bleed into the white if they were too high.  You can pay $15 for a DVE tool which isn't much better or download this nice game that does a fine job.
