Halo ODST drops September 22nd

The latest game from Bungie will launch this fall.  In this game you will play in a squad of orbital drop shock troops defending Earth from a Covenant invasion.  The game takes place between Halo 2 and Halo 3 in New Mombasa where the Covenant have discovered Earth and are beginning their assault.  The game will feature 4 player co-op and will contain all of the previously available multiplayer maps for Halo 3.

From the demo shown at E3 this will not be like any Halo game you've played before.  The main character will stumble across different items as he tries to regroup with his squad mates.  Once these items are found you will experience an event through the eyes of another ODST.  I'm not sure how this will work out but it's something Bungie is going to experiment with.

The game will be priced like a full game and will have a special edition which will feature a special Halo themed controller.  The campaign will not be as long as Halo 3 but will include 20 previously released maps plus 3 new maps.  The game will also feature a four player co-op mode called Fire Fight which looks a lot like Horde mode from Gears of War 2.  The retail game will also include a beta key for the upcoming Halo Reach game.
