Reinvention of Handicap
It's been a while but at one time I was
developing a golf application for keeping track of my scores and
applying the handicap. I used the application more as a learning tool
than as something to track my golf game. I'm beginning to get that
itch again to pick up that program and finally finish it.
I've been using a commercial site to track my stats and handicap since I abandoned my application. For the most part the other application does a good job of basic stat tracking. Unfortunately the site does not do a good job of tracking accurate course information. Twice this year I've run into situations were the tee box info was just plain wrong or the course didn't have all the possible tee boxes to choose from.
I think I will re-invent my application in an effort to keeps better track of how well I'm playing. I will also use the opportunity to bone up on some new technologies. I will definitely be building the application using JSF 2.0 and Java 1.6. I may even look to see if I can build a quick version using XNA. It would be fun to keep track of that on my 360 or Zune.
