Shut Up and Stand Aside

There is a trend that needs to be addressed when it comes to debate in the US.  It seems that the "progressive" solution is to label your opponent as evil or racist.  Instead of arguing a counter point and prove your position is superior you just start putting down the opposition.  These seems to be the path of someone that is only interested in stifling debate.

In the health care insurance reform debate it started out that the opposition was astro turf.  It was implied that the protester were too well dressed and prepared.  This is kind of funny coming from the Left where they specialize in this sort of protesting.  Well, the Left normally doesn't have well dressed protesters.

Since this wasn't effective the Left started referring to the protesters as mobs and now racists.  There were people saying that people brought swastikas to the protesting.  I have not seen this on TV and do not believe the yellow media would miss an opportunity to show this off.  Now on MSNBC some hack has suggested that Socialism is being used as a replacement for the N word.  This is simply outrageous and unbelievable that someone on TV would make such a reaching statement.

The problem with this sort of debate is that it introduced fear to the argument.  The hope of the accusers is to scare people out of the argument because they don't want to be associated with racists.  They want to make the argument that if you disagree with Obama you are a racists.  So far this labeling has not stopped the debate and should open the eyes of even the most hardened Obama supporters.

It really makes me sick when I hear people referring to companies as Evil or people as racists in an effort to support their argument.  In reality it just shows off their ignorance of the situation.  Racism is a real issue and by linking it to health care reform only only belittles victims of racism.  On that same point calling a company evil because they are operating for profit is ludicrous .  There is plenty of real evil in the world and what health insurance companies are doing is not evil.  Evil is when people commit genocide not when a company declines a claim that your plan coverage will not cover.
