Debacle in the 23rd District
The special election in New York's traditionally Republican 23rd distinct was one of the bell weather elections the Republicans had hoped to show their growing support after the past November elections. Instead it showed how clueless the party actually is when picking candidates. This race was being contested by three candidates from three different parties: Democrat Bill Owens, Republican Dede Scozzafava and Conservative Doug Hoffman.
For some reason the Republicans put up a candidate that was pro abortion, pro gay marriage and pro union. Needless to say this was no Republican. Thankfully she was torn apart by conservatives like Sarah Palin, Glen Beck and others. She eventually withdrew from the election and with a parting shot ENDORSED THE DEMOCRAT! Good job RNC, you really picked a good one this time. Thankfully a true conservative stepped up and only lost because a few thousand fools voted for Scozzafava. The election is currently under review and may still be overturned.
This election in particular is why the Republican party must die. We have too many people that are only republicans because they believe in one or two tenets of the Republican party. They may be socially conservative but fiscally liberal or vise verse. We need to tear down the Republican party and hope that from it's ashes a new stronger conservative party emerges. I'd rather be a conservative and lose a few elections than have the likes of Olympia Snow and Dede Scozzafava in my party. In the end the Democrats will fail to turn the country around and people will be coming to us for our conservative values to repair our nation.
