Quick Modern Warfare 2 Impressions
So I finally started playing Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2 on my 360 this past weekend. I've enjoyed the Infinity Ward Call of Duty games in the past because they are very detailed, beautiful games that require patients and skill. I would say that you will die a whole lot playing any of the first person shooters they have developed. The current game is no exception and anyone playing this game on a difficulty higher than Normal should expect to die a lot.
This game is visually stunning compared to all other games on the market. They have probably the best game engine out there that is using every ounce of power the consoles can muster. They also like to throw you in almost impossible situations which you are forced to find the best path to get to your objective. To an extent the game almost feels a bit arcade like with the people jumping out at you at key moments.
If you look at the game's story element it clearly is over the top and feels a lot more like a popcorn action movie from Michael Bay compared to the previous installments. I can't decide if this is a knock against the game or not. The story has some huge holes that make it feel unrealistic yet the action and the graphics try to make the game as real as possible. The game feels like it should be a simulation but is way over the top.
I think if you are more into the mutiplayer from his series, then Modern Warfare 2 will be perfect for you. It's very similar to the previous multiplayer without all the launch bugs the first one had. I find that military first person shooters tends to attract all the people I hate playing with online. The white trash racist are the key demographic for games like this online. In my first three games I played online I hear a conversation between two people bragging about how racist they are and in another I was told I was going to be someones bitch. It's a fun multiplayer game but unfortunately the player pool online is filled with people you want to send to war so they can come back in body bags.
